Join us for the Pride flag-raising ceremony! Remember last year when we had a Summer of Love?! Get ready for another Summer full of events for all of The People!

Looking for something to do this weekend?

Saturday: Free Comic Book Day at The SPACE — games, trivia, prizes, Smash Bros., cosplay, and free comics while supplies last.

Sunday (1–4 PM): Studio Open House at the Greenbelt Community Center — spray paint session (outside on the lawn) with Shaymar.

We’re also expanding and recruiting volunteers for the summer!!! SO much to be excited about!

Black History month events are plentiful across the city of Greenbelt!

❤️Just yesterday we kicked off a celebration of art that speaks to the African American experience and the stories, histories, and voices that shape it.

As we close out the year, we want to pause and say thank you!

This year, continued to grow as a creative, healing, and community-centered hub — because of 🫵🏾!

This year, together, we:

🫟Sustained our free music, yoga, sewing, and arts classes

🫟Celebrated Emerald City Pride all summer long

🫟Launched our first Stop-Motion Animation Summer Camp
Expanded our makerspace, 3D printing, and Artrepreneurship programs, working with students from high schools across Maryland and D.C.

🫟Officially opened the American Job Center Workforce Development & Community Resource Center at The SPACE

🫟Were featured in The Washington Post, Greenbelt News Review, VoyageBaltimore, and other DMV publications

The SPACE is honored to be featured and thrilled that our founder is steadfast in his efforts to contribute to a city rich in history and dedicated to community service.

“The idealism of Greenbelt proved to be a perfect fit for artist and nonprofit director Shaymar Higgs, the 38-year-old founder of The SPACE Free Art For All, which provides free art supplies and activities. He grew up in Prince George’s County and said his mother ran a day care center in Greenbelt when he was a child. He dreamed of living here when he grew older.”
