Today, Nescopeck native and World War II Veteran, Sgt. Charles Harrison "Harry' Knecht was laid to rest at Elan Memorial Cemetery in Bloomsburg.

Sgt. Knecht, part of Company C, 109th Infantry Regiment of the famed 28th Infantry Division, was a casualty of the infamous Battle of the Hurtgen Forest in Germany in November 1944.

Outstanding work by our friends at Reliance Fire Company No. 1 and all others involved in making this solemn homecoming possible for Sgt. Knecht.

You can read the full story of the Nescopeck Veteran's return home in the Press Enterprise Obituary attached to Reliance Fire Company's post.
