Honoring Those Who Honor Our Flag
Today, Commander Bobby and President Claudia of VFW Patterson Memorial Post/Auxiliary 12182 had the pleasure and honor of meeting Deputies Difondi and Beam.
We received a phone call from the deputies asking if we knew of a VFW Post where they could bring several old American flags they had collected from the Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery in Verdunville. It was our privilege to meet them at the Centerville exit, while they were still on duty, to receive the flags so they could be properly retired.
During our visit, we learned that Deputy Beam is a veteran and currently a member-at-large of the VFW. We were honored to invite him to become a member of our Patterson Memorial Post 12182, and he graciously transferred his membership to our Post. We are proud to welcome him to our VFW family!
We also want to thank both Deputies Difondi and Beam for going above and beyond. They took the time to pick up old flags that had fallen to the ground, collect flags that had been left in vases, and even rehang a flag that was only secured at one point on the flagpole.
Their actions demonstrated the respect, honor, and patriotism they have for our American flag and for the veterans who have served beneath it.
It was truly an honor to meet these two outstanding deputies. Our community is very fortunate to have officers who not only protect and serve, but who also take the time to do what is right and show such deep respect for our nation's flag.
Thank you, Deputies Difondi and Beam, for your service to our communities and for honoring our flag. Welcome to the VFW family, Deputy Beam! 🇺🇸

Thank you Greg Pellerin for sharing your story with the St. Mary Sheriff Dept. and for The Sheriff Dept. recognizing these Awesome Deputies. They are truly deserved it. May we all learn from their action of caring for our Veterans and our communities across St. Mary Parish. We are so Bless to have them and all our deputies and law enforcement officers.
