LOVE LOOKS ORDINARY SOMETIMES
šŸ’žJust the life we hoped they would have.

A year ago, Teddy’s health made tomorrow uncertain.

Tonight, he is chasing his Forever Foster dad across the grass, asking for one more round of play—and later, leaning in close enough to share a little nose-to-nose conversation.

Nothing extraordinary happened today.

And perhaps that is the extraordinary part.

For a senior whose future once felt uncertain, an ordinary afternoon of play, affection, and being completely at home is a beautiful measure of how far he has come.

Where Love Resides.

LOVE LOOKS ORDINARY SOMETIMES
Just the life we hoped they would have.

When you have spent your life kenneled outdoors, ordinary comforts can feel like something extraordinary.

For Shania, Ella and Otis, it is the cool air inside. A soft place to rest. A little pool on a hot Texas afternoon. The freedom to simply enjoy the day.

And perhaps most meaningful of all—human arms reaching for them with love.

None of these moments are remarkable to most of us.

For them, they are a whole new way of living.

And that is exactly the point.

Love looks ordinary sometimes.

And in these ordinary moments, we are reminded why we call Living Grace the place Where Love Resides. ā¤ļø

THE PALLIATIVE PANTRY
Tonight, every shelf is full.

Yesterday, we told you three shelves were still waiting.

Tonight, Jax has completed his inspection—and there is no empty space left to find.

But what arrived at Living Grace was more than food.

You sent care.

With full shelves—and very full hearts—thank you.

🐾 GRATITUDE HOUSEKEEPING NOTE:
If you sent a Palliative Pantry gift through our Amazon Registry but haven’t heard from us, we may be missing your email address. Please reach us at [email protected] so we can thank you personally and provide your IRS charitable acknowledgment.

LOVE LOOKS ORDINARY SOMETIMES
Just the life we hoped they would have.

Sometimes love looks like patience, trust…and clippers in hand. 🐾

United K9 Academy is no stranger to the Ranch. Their trainers visit weekly, helping several residents practice the basic ā€œlet’s get alongā€ skills that help them feel more comfortable and confident in their world.

Today, Jen lent a hand in another way: nail trims. Some residents saw the clippers and practically raised their paws. Others apparently needed a little more discussion about the terms. šŸ˜‰

Same patience. Different tools.

We’re deeply grateful to our friends at United K9 Academy for being part of the ordinary care that means so much.

HOW WE CARE FOR LIFE DEFINES WHO WE ARE.

Last Friday, FedEx delivered nearly $600 in prescription food ordered from Chewy for Hemi, one of our 14-year-old residents living with liver disease.

Our security camera captured the delivery driver throwing the boxes onto the ground. Two cases of Hemi's Royal Canin Hepatic food were damaged.

We're sharing the video not because we caught someone behaving badly, but because how we handle the things entrusted to us matters.

For FedEx, these may have looked like ordinary cardboard boxes.

For Hemi, they contained medically necessary nutrition.

We contacted Chewy. They listened, responded promptly, and replaced both damaged cases.

Chewy did the right thing. That deserves to be part of the story, too.

At Living Grace, we believe accountability and grace can occupy the same space. We can expect better when care falls short—and acknowledge those who step forward to make it right.

For Hemi, it's dinner.

For us, it's stewardship.

LOVE LOOKS ORDINARY SOMETIMES.
Just the life we hoped they would have.

Another 100+ degree Texas afternoon.

Outside, summer is doing what Texas summer does.

Inside Serenity Cottage, Jax has air conditioning, a favorite toy, and Jen—Ranch Pal, Sanctuary Sweetheart sponsor, and today's designated lounging companion.

Jax has always been happiest close to people. And on an August afternoon like this, there really isn't much more to ask for.

A cool room.
A favorite toy.
Someone who chose to care.

CARE IS NOT A PLACE.
IT IS A PROMISE.

Three years ago on a similarly hot summer day, we first met Gracie—an emaciated mama who had recently given birth and was doing everything she could to care for her field-born puppies.

That was the first day of our promise to Gracie.

To care for her through every season of her life, wherever that season may lead.

Today, Gracie begins a new chapter.

More than three years after we first met her, Gracie left the Ranch with her Forever Foster dad, Kurt.

The place has changed.

The promise hasn't.

Welcome to your new chapter, Gracie. ā¤ļø

If you knew nothing about Living Grace and simply watched this, you might not see volunteers at a senior dog sanctuary.

You might just see people who are deeply comfortable with dogs.

And dogs who are deeply comfortable with them.

A familiar lap.
A hand that knows where to rest.
A face close enough to kiss.
A dog leaning in because there is no reason not to.

These aren't particularly remarkable moments.

That's rather the point.

Over time, caregiving becomes familiarity. Familiarity becomes trust. And trust begins to look an awful lot like belonging.

Maybe the extraordinary thing is that none of this looks extraordinary anymore.

Love looks ordinary sometimes.

Our September Volunteer Training Workshop is now enrolling. Perhaps your ordinary moments are waiting here, too.
