THIS. 💛 This is exactly why we built this place. So happy to see DDRC’s Day Program enjoying S’Miles Playground!

🛝🌟Individuals from DDRC’s Day Program had the opportunity to visit the new S’Miles Playground in Berthoud during the S’Miles September grand opening. Designed with inclusion in mind, the playground features adaptive swings, wheelchair and walker-accessible ramps, sensory panels, interactive musical equipment, and more. They enjoyed seeing and exploring the many accessible features that make play and recreation welcoming for everyone.

Quick bathroom update because we’ve gotten a few questions!

The public restrooms were included by the developer as his donation to the park. They are built, but they’re located inside the HOA building, which is still awaiting final occupancy approval and is not yet open for public use.

After all the delays we had already experienced getting the playground open, we made the decision not to delay opening the park any longer while we waited on that final piece.

For now, there are several construction port-a-potties nearby that are available to use. The Dream Finders show homes across the street and LGI just down Tenderfoot have also been incredibly kind about allowing park visitors to use their restrooms.

We know it’s not ideal and appreciate everyone’s patience. We’ll absolutely update everyone as soon as the public restrooms are officially open!

For now, we’re just very happy the playground is finally OPEN and being enjoyed every day!

A playground where kids can play, belong, grow, and even work hard without it feeling quite so hard.

And when you have an amazing PT who sees a playground full of possibilities… therapy looks a whole lot like play. 🥹

So grateful for Kate Jessen for always finding ways to help Miles do more, while making sure he’s smiling through it.

This is inclusion. This is community. This is why we built it.

Miles Bowling, a 9-year-old who has cerebral palsy, spent the last five years raising money through lemonade stands with his family, grants, and donations.

Please do not come to the park today. We are working as hard as we can to secure a new date and will share updates as soon as we have them.

With a very heavy heart, we’re sharing that the Berthoud Adaptive Park Grand Opening originally planned for May 30 will need to be postponed.

Due to ongoing nearby construction and related safety/liability concerns, we were informed that the site will not be ready for public access in time for the planned opening weekend.

This is deeply disappointing for everyone who has poured years of love, work, advocacy, and support into bringing this park to life. We know many families, supporters, sponsors, and community members were looking forward to celebrating together this month.

At this time, we are working closely with the developer and project partners to better understand timing for completion and public access. We will share updated information as soon as we know more.
