We had a wonderful meeting last night. Very productive, so much so that we never got to the planned program! Rescheduling that for another month, unless we do it at the retreat.

Kudos to our members, the other host club members and combined community family of volunteers and to the public at large for attending & resulting in another successful quilt show!

Here’s what we achieved at our meeting: Recapped the quilt show, planned programs through rest of the year. Selected topics for two workshops that will be scheduled later this year (on a Sat) and both selected and booked a retreat for Oct!

January 12 and February 9 meetings will be open sewing after a brief business review. With everyone working towards the April quilt show and boutique items there’s plenty to keep busy. Bring your gear and projects to work on (remember an extension cord if you need power).

Everyone’s encouraged to bring along their scraps or other fabrics they’ve fallen out-of-love with to swap, gift or use for scrap projects.

Ondrea will review a group block project that everyone can work towards for our charity quilts.

Eileen will demonstrate a scrap project technique she admired from another’s post to all interested.

Next group meeting is on November 10 from 6:30-8:30 pm at the Clarke County Parks and Recreation Center in Berryville, VA.

This month program is a relaxing sewing bee. Part of our discussions will focus on project recommendations for boutique items for next year’s quilt show which is less than six months away!

Come prepared with your project and all your tools and supplies needed and enjoy some communal time. Several members will be working on their hand work projects from our class on Mock Molas last month. But all are welcome to bring in your sewing machines too.

Our group had a great time during our first ever group retreat. Shenandoah Valley Craft House was a wonderful venue.

We mostly worked on our own projects (charity and personal) but several helped with a project pattern I shared to make a quilt top for our local Project Linus chapter. I’ll share a reference to the pattern and the top in another post.

The Shenandoah Craft House is now open. We offer a 6 bedroom Victorian retreat to meet all your crafting needs. We have set up optimum crafting tables and purchased crafting chairs and mattresses with our guests confort in mind.

November 10th meeting is our bee day, bring in whatever you want to work on or need help with, along with discussion of ideas for make items for the boutique at next year’s quilt show !
