Crossroads Community and Projectconnect Announce Planned Transition to Better Serve Adams County
Berne, IN — After many seasons of building, serving, and working together, Crossroads Community and ProjectConnect have announced a transition that will carry Crossroads’ programs, resources, and relationships forward within the broader mission of ProjectConnect.
Though the organizations have operated separately, their missions have always been closely aligned. Crossroads has provided housing and support for men rebuilding their lives, while ProjectConnect leads a robust countywide initiative connecting our neighbors to relationships, resources, and opportunities.
Over time, the overlap in the people served, relationships developed, and vision shared by both organizations became undeniable. This transition brings the organizational structure into alignment with work already happening and creates a more connected way to better serve Adams County.
“Crossroads has always been determined to help men rebuild their lives here in Adams County,” said Jay Evans, executive director of Crossroads Community. “After careful planning, we believe this is the best way to carry the mission forward.”
Together, Crossroads’ housing experience will join ProjectConnect’s navigation and resource network, strengthening support for men and women navigating recovery, housing instability, incarceration, and other significant life transitions.
“We want to continue creating tables of conversation where nobody needs the credit and the work simply gets done,” said Rob Parker, executive director of ProjectConnect. “This transition is one more way for us to do that from a stronger, more connected local position. It allows us to bring people and organizations around the same table and stay focused on what matters most—our neighbors.”
The men currently living in Crossroads housing will experience very little disruption to their housing or support during this transition. The homes will continue providing safe, accountable housing for men who need it most, with no immediate changes planned to established daily policies or routines.
Through a carefully organized legal and financial process, Crossroads Community will dissolve as an independent organization, with its programs and resources continuing as part of the ProjectConnect mission.
Crossroads’ faith-rooted history will continue to be honored, and churches, volunteers, mentors, donors, employers, recovery communities, service providers, and public partners will remain essential to the work.
Leaders and frontline staff from both organizations will communicate directly with residents, partners, donors, volunteers, and other community stakeholders as the transition progresses.
