Today, the Colquitt County Fire Association is deploying one fire engine staffed with two of our firefighters, along with four firefighters from the City of Moultrie, as a unified team to assist with the wildfires east of our area.

We are proud and fortunate to be in a position to send resources to help during this ongoing emergency. These fires have placed a tremendous strain on the communities affected and on the firefighters who have been battling them for days on end.

Please keep our firefighters traveling to assist in your prayers, and also remember the crews already on the front lines working tirelessly to contain these fires and protect lives and property. We pray for their safety, strength, and safe return home.

Attention Colquitt County Citizens:

As of today, we are requesting that all citizens CEASE burning any wood piles, yard debris, or any other types of outdoor burning activity (including prescribed fire) until we get some rain and moisture on the ground.

Colquitt County is currently under D4 – Exception Drought conditions, which is the highest level possible.

The dry conditions, along with persistent wind over the last several weeks, have resulted in multiple fires getting out of control, both locally and around the state. Our local Fire Departments and local Georgia Forestry Commission units do not have the capacity to respond to the number of calls being received. This could become an issue for the public’s safety.

Please note that if a citizen is conducting a burn, and the Fire Department is dispatched, they will extinguish the fire regardless of what is being burned or its location.

***UPDATE AS OF 12:00PM MARCH 5, 2026***

This is from the husband Cpl. Abbie Tucker:

Abbie is awake and somewhat able to communicate with anyone that speaks to her. She is still under sedation but is still on about half the level of what they started her on. She has a broken clavicle and two closed pelvic fractures. There is no danger of lung problems at this point. Out of everything we've been told there is no need for surgery.
Physical Therapy came in today and with a little motivation they got her to sit up on her own. They were also able to get her to stand. Although painful, she is a fighter and pushed past the pain. They were impressed with the amount of strength and resolve she is already showing. They are referring her to specialized rehabilitation for specific brain injuries.
Please keep all the prayers coming! I see them working in real-time on her every minute!
Abbie is aware of where she is and that she was involved in a crash.
She was asked if she wanted visitors and she said that she did and it would make her feel better. That being said, all supporters that would like to come visit to say hello and give her words of encouragement are welcome.
I would like to thank everyone for the unbelievable amount of support they have shown Abbie. I would also like to encourage anyone that might not be able to come visit to send messages through text, Facebook, etc. to myself and to Abbie. She has really responded to inspirational, motivational, and religious type messages that I read to her that everyone has sent so far.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to everyone from our community that has shown up for Abbie. I am forever grateful!

***UPDATE AS OF 12:50PM MARCH 4, 2026***

Cpl. Tucker has been taken off of the ventilator and is partially responding. She is still under sedation but thankfully off of the vent.

***UPDATE AS OF 9:20 MARCH 4, 2026, FOR CPL. ABBIE TUCKER***

Cpl. Abbie Tucker is still currently under sedation and on a ventilator so that her body doesn’t have to work as hard to heal. She does have more than one hemorrhage in her brain, but medical staff do not see the need for surgery at this time.
Her neurologist checked on her this morning, and she was responsive to his cues and requests. When the doctor asked if she was a fighter, Cpl. Tucker gave a thumbs up even under sedation. She is still listed in serious condition; however, we are very optimistic at this point.
Cpl. Tucker’s family has expressed nothing but gratitude at all the thoughts, prayers, and messages. We continue to ask everyone to pray for them and Cpl. Tucker in this time of need.

*****UPDATE*****

While still early into the investigation of the crash, it is believed that the deputy did fail to yield the right of way after stopping at a stop sign. We are still waiting on the official report from the Georgia State Patrol, but we are allowing them the time to conduct an impartial investigation into the crash.
The driver of the semi has been treated and released from the hospital.
The deputy has been admitted into ICU in serious condition. The medical staff has told us that the next 24 hours will be the most critical at this point.
Please continue to keep the deputy and their family in your thoughts and prayers. We will continue to try and keep any updates posted here.
