Today, Lauren Russell-Wood and Kourtney Duffie had the honor of representing the Worcester County Child Advocacy Center at the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore’s Women’s Fund Luncheon, where they were incredibly grateful to accept a $5,000 grant on behalf of the CAC.

The Worcester County CAC was one of 15 local organizations selected to receive funding, and we are deeply appreciative of the Women’s Fund’s commitment to supporting programs that strengthen and serve our community.

This generous award will help provide emergency stabilization assistance to women and girls served by the CAC in support of our mission of providing hope, healing, and advocacy for children and families in Worcester County.

Thank you to the Women’s Fund for believing in the work we do and for investing in a brighter future for the children we serve. 💙

🚩Grooming doesn't start with abuse.

It often starts with attention, trust, and secrecy. Grooming is a deliberate process used to lower a child's defenses and increase compliance.

If a child says an online interaction makes them feel scared, confused, pressured or uncomfortable, take it seriously. Grooming usually begins before there is clear evidence of harm.

📍 Can someone tell where your child is from a single post?

Many apps allow users to share their location with the tap of a button. While these features can be convenient, they can also reveal where a child lives, goes to school, or spends time with friends.

As part of Internet Safety Month, take five minutes to review location settings together:
✅ Turn off location sharing when it's not needed.
✅ Limit access to trusted family members.
✅ Talk about avoiding photos that reveal identifiable locations.

Small changes in privacy settings can make a big difference in keeping children safe online.

It takes a village and Showell Elementary School proved that in the best way 🍕❤️

We are so proud to share that students at Showell Elementary helped raise $936.20 for the Child Advocacy Center during the Penny Wars Fundraiser, more than any other school that participated! Every penny collected made a real difference for kids in our community who need it most.

Today, we celebrated in the sweetest way…treating the 4th grade class to a well-deserved pizza party for their help counting all those pennies, and giving a huge round of applause to the 2nd grade class for collecting the most of any grade in the school! A special thank you to for supplying the sweetest celebration for our 2nd graders, you helped make this day extra special!

To the students, teachers, and families of Showell Elementary…thank you. Your generosity and heart are exactly what this community is made of. 💛

🍭Spreading kindness, one treat at a time! 🍬

As the school year comes to a close, we wanted to give the incredible staff at Cedar Chapel Special School a sweet summer send-off and a small token of appreciation for all they do throughout the year.

A special thank you to our CAC intern, Ella, for preparing homemade treats for the staff. To make the day even sweeter, Belle joined us for a special visit, bringing smiles, tail wags, and plenty of joy along the way. 🐾

We are grateful for community partners like Cedar Chapel and the dedicated professionals who make a difference in the lives of children and families every day. Thank you for your care, compassion, and commitment. We hope you have a wonderful and well-deserved summer break! ☀️

📱June is Internet Safety Month and it starts with a simple conversation.

You don't have to know everything about every app. The most important online safety tool is a trusted adult who listens without judgment.

This week, ask your child about the apps they use and what they enjoy online.
