How many times have you had a gut feeling to say no and later you found yourself thanking god that you listened to your gut? Thats why this message about boundaries from Russell J. Ledet, MD, PhD, MBA hits different.

: Teenagers figure out your boundaries before somebody tests them.

Know where you won’t go, what you won’t do, who you can call, and when it’s time to leave. Being cool is temporary. Your future is not.

From the free Kona Ice 🍧 to face painting 🎨, games 🏀, community gardens 🌱, school readiness 📚, and neighbors coming together—yesterday’s event was everything community should be. 💙

We loved spending the day with local families alongside incredible partners including UMES 4-H, Agriculture Extension, community gardens, Pocomoke High School, the Judy Center, WOW Mobile, Dr. Rayne, local churches, vendors, and so many organizations dedicated to making a difference.

A huge thank you to Lead Coach Latoya Purnell and Derrick Fooks for their outstanding planning and leadership in creating a day filled with connection, resources, smiles, and unforgettable memories.

As we gear up for a new school year, we’re reminded that strong communities are built when we show up for one another. 💛

Excited to share highlights from National Night Out at Dr. Henry Park in Berlin! We handed out over 200 T-shirt prizes, popcorn, and school-readiness supplies, creating fun and meaningful interactions with families and community youth.

The BPW Coalition partnered with the faith-based sector, St. Paul UMC, and Brave Inc. to host a lively booth. We connected with schools, health agencies, law enforcement, and fire safety teams. Check out the photo with the new Berlin Chief of Police and inspiring youth and young adult leaders!

Strong fathers teach many things.

How to work hard.
How to persevere.
How to care for others.

This Father's Day season, let's also teach the next generation that mental health matters.

When fathers and father figures talk openly about emotions, they help create healthier families and stronger communities.

Thank you to the dads, coaches, mentors, grandfathers, and role models making a difference every day.

Did you know that teen brains are under construction?

In fact, the part of the brain responsible for:

✔ Decision making
✔ Planning
✔ Self-control

is still developing during adolescence.

This makes teens more vulnerable to risky behaviors and substance use. Not to mention, drug use can impact brain development before age 25.

🧠 Did you know?

THC, the main psychoactive ingredient in ma*****na, causes the brain to release dopamine—a chemical linked to pleasure and reward. This dopamine surge is part of what creates the "high" people experience when using ma*****na.

Over time, repeated exposure can teach the brain to seek that feeling again and again, increasing the risk of dependence and addiction.

📊 The facts:
• 1 in 11 adults who use ma*****na will become addicted.
• For those who begin using during their teen years, the risk increases to 1 in 6.

Why does age matter?

The teen brain is still developing, especially the areas responsible for decision-making, planning, learning, and self-control. Early substance use can have a greater impact on these developing brain systems.

Knowledge empowers healthy choices.

Learn the facts. Start the conversation. Protect young minds.

Our youth and advisors showed up and spoke out at the Take Back Your 10 Youth Summit!

This weekend, young leaders from across the state gathered at the TB10 Youth Summit presented by to share ideas, strengthen their advocacy skills, and take action toward creating to***co-free environments in their communities.

Throughout the day, youth participants:
✨ Connected with peers from local TB10 chapters
✨ Learned about the environmental impact of to***co waste
✨ Participated in interactive leadership and prevention activities
✨ Shared chapter updates and progress from across Maryland
✨ Helped shape the vision for the next year of youth-led prevention work

We’re proud to see youth continuing to lead the movement for healthier parks, stronger communities, and to***co-free spaces across our state.

Thank you to CADCA, the TB10 Youth Council, local coalition partners, and the Maryland Department of Health for supporting and uplifting youth voices in prevention.
