Did you know that teen brains are under construction?

In fact, the part of the brain responsible for:

✔ Decision making
✔ Planning
✔ Self-control

is still developing during adolescence.

This makes teens more vulnerable to risky behaviors and substance use. Not to mention, drug use can impact brain development before age 25.

🧠 Did you know?

THC, the main psychoactive ingredient in ma*****na, causes the brain to release dopamine—a chemical linked to pleasure and reward. This dopamine surge is part of what creates the "high" people experience when using ma*****na.

Over time, repeated exposure can teach the brain to seek that feeling again and again, increasing the risk of dependence and addiction.

📊 The facts:
• 1 in 11 adults who use ma*****na will become addicted.
• For those who begin using during their teen years, the risk increases to 1 in 6.

Why does age matter?

The teen brain is still developing, especially the areas responsible for decision-making, planning, learning, and self-control. Early substance use can have a greater impact on these developing brain systems.

June is Men’s Mental Health Month.

Too often, men are told to "tough it out" or keep their feelings to themselves.

Real strength isn't staying silent.

Real strength is asking for help, checking in with a friend, and taking care of your mental health.

This month, let's remind the men and boys in our lives that they don't have to carry everything alone.

💙 Check in.
💙 Listen.
💙 Support.

🧠 Your brain is designed to reward healthy experiences.

Spending time with friends and family. Listening to music. Playing sports. Enjoying a favorite meal.

These activities activate the brain's reward system naturally.

Drugs can overwhelm that same system by triggering dopamine levels far beyond what the brain was designed to handle. Over time, this can make healthy activities feel less rewarding and increase the risk of substance use problems.

Understanding how the brain works helps us make informed choices.

Knowledge protects futures.
