Wiessner Foundation Awards $6,000 Grant to Berlin Troop 225
for New Equipment Trailer
BERLIN, Md. — August 13, 2026 — The Wiessner Foundation has awarded a $6,000 grant to Friends of Troop 225 to help purchase a new enclosed equipment trailer for Troop 225 in Berlin.

The grant was formally presented during a check presentation attended by representatives of the Wiessner Foundation and members of Troop 225.

The new trailer will provide the troop with a safe and reliable way to store and transport tents, cooking equipment, camping supplies, program materials, and other Scouting gear used for campouts, service projects, and outdoor activities.

Troop 225 is based in Berlin and is chartered by the Berlin Lions Club. Through Scouting, troop members participate in outdoor activities, community service, leadership development, teamwork, and programs designed to build confidence, responsibility, and self-reliance.

The $6,000 grant represents a significant investment in Troop 225 and will directly strengthen the troop’s ability to provide quality Scouting experiences for young people in Berlin and the surrounding community.

Friends of Troop 225 expressed its appreciation to the Wiessner Foundation and its Board for recognizing the importance of community-based youth programs and for helping make the new trailer possible.

“We are extremely grateful to the Wiessner Foundation for this generous support,” said Gerald “Skip” Carlson, Assistant Scoutmaster and member of Friends of Troop 225. “This trailer is something our Scouts and leaders will use for many years. Every
time it leaves Berlin for a campout, service project, or other Scouting activity, it will be a reminder of the Wiessner Foundation’s investment in our young people.”

Our new ASPL. Way to go, Alexei! We’re so proud of you!

Imagine what just $1 a week can do. 🩵🐾

For 319 weeks, Alexei set aside one dollar at a time. This week, turning those savings into an incredible donation for the animals at our shelter!

Thank you, Alexei, for proving that you don’t have to give a lot all at once to make a life-changing impact. Every little bit truly adds up. 🐶🐱
