Our stories deserve to be heard. ✨

April is National Poetry Month, and few voices have shaped the landscape of modern poetry like Maya Angelou.

For Dr. Angelou, poetry was more than art—it was a language of courage, survival, and truth. Through poems like “Still I Rise”, her words remind us that poetry can comfort, challenge, uplift, and inspire. 💬🖋️

This month especially, we uplift Black voices and the power of poetry to tell our stories!

Last year, our Alumni community put $100 in the hands of every black Cal graduate at Black Graduation 2025. This year we’re doing it again – but we need your help to get there.

Black graduation is May 19th. Our goal is $20,000. We’ve raised 6000. We need 140 ALUMNI to give $100 before May 15 to close the gap.

We were honored to celebrate and close out Black History Month in community!✨

Thank you to everyone who marched alongside us at the Black Joy Parade in Oakland—your energy and pride made the day unforgettable🥁

We also had the privilege of joining for their Black Culture Appreciation Night, where 16 Black leaders at UC Berkeley were honored for their leadership and service that strengthen our campus and community. Our very own board members proudly served as honorary coaches for the evening! 💛💙

Grateful to celebrate Black excellence, culture, and community together 🙌🏾
