Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is an international service organization founded on the campus of Howard University on January 15, 1908 under the leadership of Soror Ethel Hedgeman Lyle. Rho Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated was chartered at the University of California, Berkeley on August 21, 1921 by 6 women under the leadership of Soror Ida Louise Jackson.
