Born in 1882, Igor Stravinsky rose to become one of the most influential musical voices of the 20th century.

Among his many masterpieces is the ballet "Apollon musagète"—a work of elegance, clarity, and quiet power that portrays Apollo as leader of the Muses. Nearly a century after its premiere, the music continues to inspire audiences with its grace, balance, and timeless beauty.

We're delighted to feature Stravinsky's "Apollon musagète" this January in BLOOM with Lara Downes, alongside a world premiere honoring jazz's spirit of innovation, and Mozart's radiant Symphony No. 29.

Lara Downes brings a voice shaped by boundary-crossing tradition and bold new works. Omar Massa brings the rhythm and fire of tango in full motion. And in San Francisco RISING, Daniel Hope and Thomas Hampson bring a century of transformation to life through music, narration, and multimedia—tracing the city’s story from the Gold Rush to the signing of the United Nations Charter.

We join our community in mourning the loss of Maestro Michael Tilson Thomas. Below is a message shared from Music Director Daniel Hope:

"The passing of Michael Tilson Thomas is an immeasurable loss not only to the world of music, but especially to San Francisco and the entire Bay Area, whose cultural identity he helped shape with vision, intelligence, and extraordinary humanity.

My colleagues and I at New Century mourn his loss deepy; his legacy of curiosity, communication, and artistic courage remains a guiding light."

Reminder, Berkeley Music Fans: The location of our upcoming concert on Friday, April 24 is at First Presbyterian Church of Berkeley, at 2407 Dana Street. This is different than our normal Berkeley concert venue.

📍Located in the heart of Berkeley, First Pres Berkeley is just steps away from Telegraph Aveue and UC Berkeley.
🚗 Parking is availble in the First Pres garage, accessible via Channing Street, or in the Telegraph Channing Garage, which is across the street from First Pres.
