There are four classes of members:
• Actives are those currently singing with the Octet on campus;
• Alumni are those who have sung for at least one semester with the Active Octet;

• Honorary are those selected by the COA Council for their outstanding contribution to the Octet. COUNCIL
A Council representing all ages of Alumni is responsible for the basic policies of the COA. Council members will meet at least once per year, and the meetings will be open to all members. The primary goal of the Council is to maintain personal contact with individual Alumni. Council members will be selected such that it is likely each Alumnus sang with at least one Council member. The term of service will depend upon the Council member's willingness and ability to maintain consistent contact with the Alumni of his era. EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
This Committee is responsible for the basic operations of the COA. Specific responsibilities include music, membership records, reunions, archives, on„campus relations, and support of the Active Octet and CAL. The Committee consists of nine Alumni and the current manager of the Active Octet. The Alumni members will each serve a three year term, three being elected each year at the annual reunion. Members may serve more than one consecutive term. Nominations may be made by any member of the COA. The Committee will choose from within its ranks the President, Music Master, Secretary, and Treasurer. Assignment of individual responsibilities among members of the Committee will be based on the interests and capabilities of those on the Committee. DISSOLUTION
If COA should ever dissolve, its remaining assets would be transferred to the California Alumni Association (CAA). AMENDMENTS TO CHARTER
All amendments to this Charter must be authorized by the Council, and submitted to the CAA Clubs Steering Committee for approval.
