It's official - the 2026 Tor de Lucas TOR de Lucas Scholarship application is officially open!

Please check it out if there is even a tiny part of you that stays up at night wondering what it would be like to travel for 6 days through the Aosta Valley in September during the Tor des Géants 330. Please share and help us spread the word as we keep Lucas's dream alive and help send someone for a big lap this fall!

It's happening - we're launching into our 5th year of the TOR de Lucas scholarship.

Big thanks to all the Bay Area locals who came out last weekend to launch us into our annual fundraising drive - we raised over $1000 and all we had to do was make + eat pizzas and drink spritz! Easy peasy.

We'll continue to host California events throughout the year to get us to our $$$ goal, but for everyone else that wants to help this project continue we now have our GoFundMe page up and running.

Thanks in advance - and stay tuned for our application to go live in the coming weeks!!! Maybe you are the "lucky" recipient for the 2026 TOR de Lucas scholarship :)

Huge shout-out to Colleen Browne for sending the big Aosta loop and becoming une GÉANTE!

Colleen was the first ever Tor de Lucas scholarship recipient to finish TOR on her first attempt, in a display of grit and grace that Lucas would have been so impressed with. But more important than the finish, Colleen went all in on the adventure and instantly became part of the Aosta Valley magic - she rode the high highs and low lows of the cols and emotions, making friends and giving hugs the entire time.

BRAVA Colleen - this is an accomplishment of a lifetime. 💛

Every year the Tor de Lucas family that meets in Courmayeur gets a little bigger. Lucas loved these mountains and this race so much and we will forever feel his presence in these mountains.

An update from Aosta Valley from Colleen Browne, this year's scholarship recipient! 🇮🇹

"Feeling grateful to everyone behind the scholarship as I finish my first week of prep in Cogne! From George, South Africa to the breathtaking Aosta Valley, your support has not only made this race possible for me, but has also allowed me to arrive early, to get these sea level lungs used to the altitude and give myself the best chance to take on Tor des Géants. It’s been an incredible first week of tough climbs 🔥, figuring out some rather convoluted bus timetables🫣, eating ALL the pizza and pasta 🍕, and meeting the beautiful people of Cogne and surrounds! 🫶

This first week of training has already been life changing, and I carry your belief in me with every step. Thank you for giving me this opportunity of a lifetime. 🙏💚🤍❤️"

((And rumor has it that he'll be attempting to get tonight's 600 100km runners singing to the Beach Boys' Good Vibrations 😂🙃💛. Get ready!))

Please join us in celebrating Colleen Browne of South Africa as the 2025 TOR de Lucas scholarship recipient !!!

Colleen won us over with her unabashed enthusiasm for trail running (and life!), her willingness to take big risks (she recently left the corporate world to launch a mountain guide and coaching business), and her understanding of who Lucas was and what he meant to his friends and family. She's no stranger to long distance running or the Alps (she smashed UTMB in 2024) but she admits that she feels a deeper curiosity for some of the quieter corners of the Alps like the Aosta Valley. We can't wait to support her journey as she prepares to head to Courmayeur in September.

And again, thank you so much to all of you who donated to the scholarship, ran silly hilly loops around the Bay, and generally support this project to keep the spirit of Lucas alive!

Rounding out our past scholarship recipients is Maureen Cane.

Maureen was a close friend of Lucas’s that comes from Berkeley, California. In 2021 she was relatively new to the ultrarunning scene and decided to throw her name into the TOR lottery hat shortly after Lucas passed with a bit of “What Would Lucas Do?” attitude. The odds were clearly in her favor, as she was selected and jumped fully into training for what would be one of her biggest athletic adventures yet. During her first attempt in 2021 she DNF’d 30 kilometers short of the finish line, but returned in 2022 and 2023 to complete the loop and earn two TOR finishes.
