Rachel Parent (15) gets it. She has known she was 12. Lars learned about GMOs in 2012 during Burning Man and launched his own non-profit (Nevara Urban Farming Platform) 4 months later to remedy this unfortunate development: www.Nevara.org
Rachel has already created her own non-profit as well.

Sadly science isn't what it used to be, and it doesn't deserve the respect it has. Researchers gets paid for studying certain things, following the money like any other worker. Which makes much of what is produced biased, and pressure from the top reduce the quality assurance.

Science can in theory be unbiased, but capitalism with its ever increasing demand for money - is threatening its very foundation.

In Norway we have a saying, that the truth comes from children and drunk people. So there you have it. GMOs are bad for you. Let's extend a big gratitude to Rachel for the rest of us to understand the massive flaws of science.

Today we introduce you to our first crowdfunding campaign for local farmers.

We've spent the last month putting together a crowdfunding campaign for Lucero Organic Farms and you can see it here at tilt.tc/DfP4. Contribute, reinvigorate the community, and support your local food system. Not to mention the excellent rewards for you personally.

Ben, Karen, and Curtis Lucero want to connect to their community on a new level. They're starting a CSA to support the growth of their new 40 acres of farmland in Clarksburg, CA. Restaurants and food spots like Ici Ice Cream, Cowgirl Creamery, and Chez Panisse have sought out their organically grown, heirloom fruits and vegetables because they know the Lucero's pride variety and flavor over quantity. If you contribute you can get first pick of the best produce, picked up fresh when they come back to your local farmers market.

Hey Everyone!

Nevara has gone through a number of changes since we first started at the beginning of the year. We spoke to farmers at markets all over the San Francisco Bay Area, and we came to the conclusion that the best way we can help our local food systems is to give farmers new branding and marketing support combined with raising capital.

So this is our new plan, we're giving farmers a way to crowdfund, for each of them to tell their unique story to their local community. We do all of the design, the video, the editing, and the outreach, because we want our growers to be recognized. Wa want local farmers to thrive.

We're starting in the San Francisco Bay Area, but we'll be looking to grow soon.

Right now, keep an eye on this page. We'll be updating you soon with the first farm that needs our support.

Did you know that in ideal conditions, Aquaponics can grow a full head of lettuce two to three times faster than if grown in soil. Just fascinating! :)
