Berkeley California Juneteenth Festival Berkeley Juneteenth Festival, proudly celebrated annually on Father’s Day. The Juneteenth Festival is free and open to the public.

Adeline-Alcatraz Merchants Association, a group organized to promote the economic and social well-being of residents and small business in the South Berkeley, started Juneteenth in Berkeley to highlight the Ashby-Adeline corridor and promote community pride in South Berkeley, with community cooperation as the objective. A non-profit was established in 1987, and we celebrated the first annual Berke

ley Juneteenth Festival in 1986. In February 2014, the organization began producing Black History Month celebrations and rebranded as Berkeley Juneteenth Cultural Celebrations to pursue and sponsor more cultural events. BJCC is committed to educating future generations about the history and accomplishments of African Americans, creating programming which highlights our music and culture, and acknowledging people and events that have brought us as a community and a nation a mighty long way. Ours is the result of continued community networking: city officials, corporations, community groups, businesses, churches, media representatives, educators, artists, and others coming together to celebrate this major African American cultural event. Juneteenth in Berkeley is an annual Bay Area tradition.
