SERC's OBJECTIVES:

To provide institutional memory and leadership transition support for student orgs, projects, and initiatives

The Climate Emergency Mobilization Task Force & East Bay Regional Park District with cosponsors Student Environmental Resource Center Nature Education Wellness Together (SERC NEWT) & United Nations Association EB invites you to join us for a family friendly and fun bioblitz nature walk at Tilden Nature Area. Be a part of a community bioblitz to capture a snapshot of Tilden’s biodiversity.

At the BIOBLITZ we will:

🍃Find, identify, and record life on a walk to Jewel Lake.
🍄Use the iNaturalist mobile app to record our observations of the area’s wildlife, plants, and more!

Be sure to wear comfortable layers, sturdy shoes, sun protection, bring water and a fully charged mobile device or camera! Get a head start and download the iNaturalist app to your phone and make a free account prior to arriving.

Open to all levels of learners. Children 8+ welcome with parent (guardian) participation required.

Are you a passionate maker who is interested in leveling up your sewing skills while supporting our local Berkeley Community? Apply to join our Inaugural Community Threads Student Training Program!

During the Fall 2025 semester, students will be selected to participate in a paid, sewing, mending and alternation training program, where they will gain valuable mending and sewing skills under professional guidance. In the Spring 2026 semester, students will be able to utilize those skills in service of community, offering free clothing repair services to the Berkeley community through public events.

We're Hiring!

The Student Environmental Resource Center (SERC), a campus department and central sustainability hub at UC Berkeley, is hiring for a Wellness & Environmental Justice Community Engagement Manager, a Full Time career position. SERC is looking for a strong candidate that aligns with our values and mission of cultivating a collaborative space to strengthen the collective effectiveness of the sustainability community and provides resources for students to actualize their visions of a more equitable, socially just, and resilient future.

The Wellness and Environmental Justice Community Engagement Manager will develop, support, and advise programs, projects and initiatives focused on wellness, outdoor education, civic engagement, and environmental justice for the UC Berkeley community, and supervise SERC student staff, fellows, and serve as an advisor for student organizations.

Centering under-served and historically marginalized populations on campus, this position will execute and supervise several of SERC’s programs, including EJ Education, Nature Education & Wellness Together (NEWT), SERC’s Outdoor Education Department, SERQueer, and more.
