Jay Ward Salon

Jay Ward Salon A literary salon, where we exchanged idea, read our own works and heard the works and ideas of other writers.

It used to take place on Ward Street, (which may or may not be named after Jay Ward the creator of Rocky and Bullwinkle) in Berkeley, Calif. Due to popular demand, the Monday night Writer's Workshop will commence on 1/23/17. Message the Jay Ward Salon to reserve a spot, and for more information.

Carl, whom Allen first met at New York Psychiatric Hospital in 1949, and to whom Allen dedicated Howl, was really the one responsible for Getting William Burroughs’ “Junkie” first published in 1953 through his uncle A A Wyn who owned Ace Books.

This 1945 photograph by W. Eugene Smith hung above Tennessee Williams' work desk for a number of years. Tenn told writer James Grissom: "I think that I always thought of my characters as I do these children: vulnerable, hopeful, lost. Now I find that I think of my fellow men as I do these children: vulnerable, hopeful, lost; a little sweet. It has made the act of living infinitely easier, kinder."
