The Green Initiative Fund (TGIF)

The Green Initiative Fund (TGIF) TGIF provides funding for UC Berkeley campus sustainability projects. All UCB students, staff, and faculty can apply for funding.

TGIF is funded by a $8.00 per semester student fee, which was approved by a student body referendum during the April 2007 ASUC elections. Students, faculty, and staff may submit project proposals, which will be selected for funding by the TGIF Committee, consisting of students,

faculty, and staff, on which the students have the majority vote. Since its inaugural grant cycle in spring 2008, TGIF has awarded over $3 million in grants to 239 projects. These grant awards have included the funding of more than 400 student sustainability internships.

If you’re interested in outshining a career in the environmental field, higher education, sustainability-oriented fields, please apply. The EF Program has two components (1) part-time paid on-campus work contributing to sustainability or environmental justice work and (2) paid professional development through workshops and independent work. Hey everyone, TGIF is back with our Fall 2025 Mini-Grant 🤩🌿

Are you interested in receiving seed funding for your environmental justice or sustainability project on the UC Berkeley campus? 👀👀

Use the Link Tree in our bio to access the application, book a 1:1 appointment with the TGIF Manager or Associate, and to RSVP/Register for any of the 3 Infosessions happening in October!

In order for your application to be considered, you MUST either book a 1:1 appointment OR attend any of the 3 infosessions‼️

Applications are due Friday, October 24 @ 5 PM PST 😱😱 Late applications will not be considered, so make sure to get those in promptly!

📋 Who Can Apply?
This opportunity is open to all UC Berkeley students, staff, and faculty. Projects must request $5,000 or more and be active between May 2025 – April 2027.

How to Get Started:
1️⃣ Attend a mandatory info session or schedule a 1:1 meeting with TGIF staff —> RSVP link in bio!
2️⃣ Submit an abstract by the deadline
