“Joy & Hope will prevail for Palestinian Children: MECA’s Summer Camps”

MECA’s team in is creating safe spaces where can learn, express
themselves, and simply be children - even for a little while.

Since the Israeli started it became harder and harder to be able to create
such spaces for children to just be children, but through our summer camps this
summer, we’ll be reaching at least 600 children.
Over the course of two and a half months, Palestinian children take part in four
creative spaces: group games, music and choir, dabke dance, and arts. The summer
camps also offer individual and group guidance, educational and awareness
sessions for children and parents, and open recreational days.

Alongside this, the Edward Said Library Project aims to reach 600 children and
young Palestinians up to the age of 25. We are currently working with 200 children in
the first group through English and creative writing, music and choir, drawing, and
caricature activities.

These projects are more than temporary activities. They are spaces for learning,
creativity, connection, and growth. And as the projects continue, the books, musical
instruments, and furniture will remain available to benefit the wider community.

Together, we are creating spaces where Palestinian children can play, create, learn,
and imagine a brighter future.

A future the Israeli genocide is trying so hard to erase, but Palestinians do everything
they can to hold on to the hope of a better reality and future.

“ in is rising, and so is the need for !”

Our colleague Amal, our Director in occupied Gaza, wanted to share with you the reality on the ground following one of her field visits:

“A few days ago, during a field visit to densely populated displacement sites near the ” ”, I met families living in an area where no humanitarian organization was able to deliver water.

Their only source of water was a local water truck driver who lived in the camp. Every evening, after finishing his work, he would fill his truck and return to share water with his neighbors.

The amount of water he brought was far from enough, but at least families had something.

“Then one day, Israeli occupation forces shot the driver, and overnight the camp lost its only source of water.”

“For many people, this reality may be difficult to imagine. For us, it has become part of our daily lives; a reality we never thought we would witness.

Until sustainable solutions become possible, such as rehabilitating water networks or establishing local desalination facilities, water trucking remains one - if not the only - way to ensure communities have access to safe water.”

When we reached out to you in May asking for urgent support for families to receive clean water delivered by the MECA team, your response was a powerful act of solidarity.

Don’t stop now!

With the peak of summer bringing even hotter, drier weather to the region, the Israeli-made crisis of access to safe water in Gaza is more critical than ever. Humanitarian funding is shrinking, and many organizations are being forced to scale back their operations ...

There are many areas and families that are still left behind, and we need to show up for them!

Through the solidarity of many supporters like YOU, MECA is currently providing 930,000 liters of water per day to families in Gaza.

But the need is far greater and our team is determined to do more.
