The Berkeley PTA Council is concerned about the actions taken against Berkeley High Principal Sam Pasarow, particularly the lack of communication around his suspension and possible dismissal. We are calling on BUSD and the School Board to be more forthcoming with what and why - please sign our Change.org petition to encourage BUSD to do the right thing:

The Berkeley PTA Council and ALL the PTAs at all our Berkeley Schools strongly endorses the renewal of the Berkeley Schools Educational Act! Give ALL our students the support to succeed and grow!

In March, Berkeley voters will have the opportunity to VOTE YES for the Berkeley Public Schools. Three measures will be on the ballot: renewal of our construction bond and maintenance tax, and a new tax to recruit and retain excellent educators.

Great Council Meeting last night - thank you to everyone who came and participated in the discussions. Next meeting will be December 6 with further discussion and planning on the Superintendent search.

Real concerns are raised about the suitability of Mr. Heatley for BUSD superintendent based on reported support for Proposition 8

As President of the Berkeley PTA Council, I write to express a strong concern voiced by our members about the selection of Mr. Heatley as Superintendent of the Berkeley Unified School District.
