We’re thrilled to share an update on the Global Digital Infrastructure (GDI) program, launched at BCNM in 2025! The program offers a three-course Certificate and was recently approved as a five-course Minor. As the first university program addressing the technical, economic, legal, environmental, and social dimensions of the global internet’s infrastructure, demand has proven robust.

This year, GDI courses recorded 632 enrollments—more than double 2025 levels—reaching 715 students across its first two years. Seven students completed the minor in its inaugural year!

Alexandra Cole, Assistant Director of Summer Sessions, notes: "Summer minors and certificates give students across disciplines the opportunity to explore new and emerging areas of study. The new Global Digital Infrastructure Minor and Certificate is the perfect example... It is already one of the most popular programs students can complete during the summer."
