Did you know? In addition to being the country’s 250th, it’s also the Berkeley Public Library’s 80th! We’ve been in our current home since 1972, but the library has been proudly serving our community since 1946. So- it’s our birthday! Our Spring newsletter is now available, and we’re making special plans for some “birthday” celebrations for later in 2026. Stay tuned!

Join us today! At 3PM in front of the Village Hall for the dedication of the new time capsule to cap our Centennial celebration. The first 100 attendees receive a commemorative coin! Come see everything as it’s added to the time capsule.

Join the Berkeley Illinois Police Department as they participate in the annual , a Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraising event benefitting Special Olympics athletes across Illinois, sponsored by Dunkin'! The officers will be on the rooftop at 5725 St Charles Rd, Berkeley from 5AM-12 Noon on Friday, May 16th.

As the Berkeley Centennial 1924-2024 wraps up its celebrations, we need your help!

On May 17, 2025 we will be burying the new time capsule. It will include many things to commemorate our 100th year. We'd like to include each family in Berkeley in this project. You have two ways to help:

1) Take a picture of yourself outside your Berkeley home or business. Send us the picture with your name and address to be included in the time capsule - https://www.berkeleyilcentennial.com/time-capsule/

The Village of Berkeley will be burying a new time capsule on May 17, 2025 to mark the end of our Centennial celebration and preserve our community for the future generations. Every day, our Free Little Food Pantry is available to help those in need. This vital community resource relies on generous donations made by our friends and neighbors. With temperatures remaining at or below freezing, we are in need of non-perishables that are not canned. We are currently seeking: corn bread mix, Hamburger Helper (or the like), bagged tuna, oatmeal, granola bars, tissue packs, socks, and the like. As the year of Berkeley's Centennial comes to a close, we want to thank everyone who celebrated with us by coming home to Berkeley, coming out to the events in your home town and sending well wishes of support from afar!
