Spring Tours of the Michael Cresap Museum, Inc. are available today, Sunday April 26th 1 to 4pm!

It's finally spring! 🌼 Although some days it feels a little like it can't make up its mind between freezing and roasting hot.

The Michael Cresap Museum will be open for spring tours on Sunday afternoon, April 26th from 1 to 4pm.

If you're an Oldtown resident, show us your ID and ticket at the door, and we'll give you half back on your ticket price. We want you to be proud of your town's incredible history as we celebrate our country's 250th all year long!

100% of ticket sales and donations support the care and maintenance of the 262 year old Register of Historic Places property. The house is owned by a 501c3 Non Profit Corporation that is registered with the Maryland Secretary of State and is tax deductible.

Next weekend is the perfect time to get out and enjoy the spring weather in beautiful Oldtown. The museum's board of directors is excited to visit the Allegany Boys Camp Auction on Friday evening and Mac & Bella Country Spring Market on Saturday afternoon. There is always something beautiful, kind and inspiring going on at Hope and Wildflowers.

Our precious Hannah Cresap's story was chosen for Women's History Month. What an honor to help share our matriarch's influence on Maryland's history and on our lives.

Hannah Johnson Cresap was more than the wife of the famous frontiersman, Thomas Cresap, but also a leader in her own right. Born in Maryland in 1705, Hannah helped guide her family through frontier conflict, burning homesteads, and life along the early Maryland–Pennsylvania border.

🌷 In the quiet beauty of the snow, and as we start the great melt to awaken another spring, we are excited for 2026 at the Michael Cresap Museum!

💖 What a wonderful time we live in to be able to celebrate our country's birth 250 years ago, while standing on the same wooden floor in the home of someone who played a part in making it all happen.

Our second event:

The Grand Re-Opening of the Michael Cresap Museum!

Before there was a new country, there were the Riflemen.

In celebration of the 250th Anniversary of Cresap's Rifles assembling at the Michael Cresap House and leaving from Oldtown, Maryland on a Beeline March to Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1775, we will gather to honor them. This National Register of Historic Places treasure will be open for touring after a long closure.

Much like in the 18th century, the Captain's house has recently suffered vicious attacks along with attacks on the Non-Profit Corporation that owns and manages it. But Michael built his stone house for defense and just like in the 18th century, there are those who will do anything to support him and his efforts. After multiple forced delays and with only a week to go, we are determined to celebrate this once in a lifetime milestone.

The Michael Cresap Museum, Inc. Board of Directors, Cresap descendants, neighbors, our Oldtown community, and those who respect the Riflemen, will gather at this most precious place and we welcome all those who feel the same to join us.

The Berkeley County Rifles representing the MD and VA Rifle Regiment will hold an encampment in Oldtown on Friday night and will be having 18th century Living History demonstrations throughout the afternoon on Saturday.
