AMAZING ASTRONOMERS OF ANTIQUITY

The seven most AMAZING ASTRONOMERS OF ANTIQUITY are responsible for most of the astronomy we still use everyday: watching sunrises, sunsets and the phasing moon; counting days, months and years; predicting the seasons and eclipses; gazing at the stars overhead and even reading horoscopes. Join in celebrating these amazing discoveries.

An additional short movie on Summer stargazing is included.

If the skies are clear after the movies we will use the telescopes.

Morgan County Observatory - Planetarium Shows - April 24 and 25

The hunt for planets around other stars, and the possibility of life on these worlds, are the central topics of EXOPLANETS - Discovering New Worlds. This show blends science, documentary-style storytelling, and a touch of science fiction into a compelling look at the ongoing search for planets around alien worlds.

An additional short movie on Summer stargazing is included.

We are so thrilled (and honestly a little overwhelmed!) by the amazing turnout for our First Night Event. Seeing so many members of our community come out to engage and be excited about astronomy made the event truly special.
Thank you all for your enthusiasm, encouragement, and curiosity—the stars are there for everyone!.
As we continue to train more volunteer operators on our telescopes, we’re excited to offer more public stargazing nights in the future. These events will feature multiple telescopes viewing different celestial sights, along with informal constellation tours using our green laser pointers. We’ll also continue hosting our monthly planetarium shows.
We hope you’ll make this a regular destination and join us again soon as we explore the night sky together!
