GreenFaith Central Bergen Circle seeks to love and care for the Earth through developing strong and connected faith leaders in the geographically central neighborhoods of Bergen County, New Jersey. We are faith leaders and members of diverse faith communities who are committed to make the changes we want to see in our cities through planning and participating in environmental actions and programmi
ng that range from climate advocacy to spiritual, environmental education. We know that addressing climate change is not only important as an environmental concern, but also as a matter of health and economic opportunity, particularly for vulnerable communities. Since June 2016, the GreenFaith Central Bergen Circle’s participating congregations and institutions include Temple Emeth, South Presbyterian Church, Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Church of the Atonement, The Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County, Sustainable Bergen, Buddhist Global Relief, and Covenant Life Ministries. Six speakers, including 4 local clergy and 2 local environmental leaders, declared the concern that our faith communities have for climate change, vulnerable communities, and our relationship with the environment. We prayed and reflected in the language of our respective scriptures and traditions and committed to protect our Earth and act together. Our Circle meetings are the first Thursday of every other month from 7 to 830 pm, and rotates between our houses of worship. Our next GreenFaith Circle meeting is June 1. We invite you to join us.
