Our LIHEAP Crisis program is continuing to accept applications from households in Bourbon, Lexington-Fayette, Harrison, and Nicholas Counties!

LIHEAP Crisis is an assistance program that helps qualifying households with a home heating emergency.

A heating emergency means: having a disconnect notice, facing imminent loss of heat or low fuel supply, or households facing eviction if utilities are included in their monthly rent.

If your household’s income is up to and including 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, you could qualify for LIHEAP assistance for Electric, Natural Gas, Propane, Coal, Wood, or Fuel Oil.

FYI:

"Several provisions in HB 5 specifically target poor Kentuckians and would result in reduced health, safety and economic security. Rather than addressing the state’s high rates of poverty and homelessness, the bill proposes a number of counterproductive measures."

House Bill 5 is a collection of dangerous, tried-and-failed policies that will increase incarceration and harm the poor in Kentucky.

Will you bring a dish for the potluck Thursday evening? We will be having a potluck for our tenants meeting!

MONTHLY TENANTS MEETING:
RICHMOND BRANCH OF MADISON COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY
NOV 9, 6pm
KIDS WELCOME, POTLUCK SUPPER

This month we will be learning how to write letters to the editors of local newspapers. We know that this will help us put the local housing crisis and shelter emergency at the top of the local agenda! Do you want to learn a skill that will help us all make a difference? Join us!

Grow the tenant movement by developing the skills you need to have good conversations with your neighbors. We can meet all of our housing needs by working together.

We are the Madison County Tenants Union. We are everyday working families and neighbors coming together to make a difference across our county.

Our meetings rotate each month between Richmond and Berea so that everyone has a chance to participate. Whether you live in Big Hill, Waco, Bybee, Buggytown, or Boonesborough. Whether you live in Berea or Richmond, we invite you to come to our monthly meetings.

In November, we are meeting at the RICHMOND Branch of the Madison County Public Library. Follow the signs to our meeting room.

We will have free supper, snacks, and welcome you to bring your kids along. We will have fun activities for kids so they can participate as well.

We know that and none of our neighbors should face not knowing where we are going to sleep at night or how we are going to make rent and pay the bills.

Join with us to unleash the power all us regular people need in order to win the changes we deserve.

Accessibility:
Each branch of the Madison County Public Library is ADA Accessible, including accessible restrooms and ADA parking. If you have any other questions about accessibility, message our page or email us at: [email protected]

NEED A RIDE:
We help folks who need a ride to the meetings by coordinating carpools. Message or email us if you will need a ride!
