People Who Care

People Who Care We are the longest-running social justice group at Berea College, operating as a part of the Center for Excellence in Learning Through Service (CELTS).

Since it's inception, it has grown and developed to become a program that serves many different populations 'from local to global'. Employees are encouraged to take advantage of the group's freedom and flexibility to tackle issues important to them. Our local & in-state work includes volunteering at abuse and homeless shelters as well as drug rehabilitation centers such as the Hope Center. We work

on a global scale by partnering with Oxfam America and Fair Trade USA to promote food justice and Fair Trade purchasing in the world as well on our own campus through the Fair Trade Universities campaign.
