Tom Madzy 5K Run & Dog Walk

10/05/2026

29 years ago today, we lost Coach Tom Madzy after his brave battle with cancer.

While three decades have passed, Coach Madzy’s spirit, compassion, and passion for this community are as strong as ever. It brings our entire family such immense joy to celebrate his enduring legacy each year at the Tom Madzy 5K & Dog Walk.

Seeing his memory continue to raise crucial funds for students in need within the Berea City School District, the very kids he cared about so deeply and dedicated so much of his life to serving, means the world to us.

Thank you to everyone who keeps his mission alive. Coach’s impact on Berea continues to run deep.

These keys were found at last week’s Tom Madzy 5K & Dog Walk in Berea. Despite our race-day announcements, they remain unclaimed. While they were turned in at the event, it looks like they may have been outside for a while ... the caked on mud may be a clue?

We are holding them safe! If you think these might be your keys, please send an email to [email protected] to describe and claim them.

WE BROKE RECORDS TODAY

Words cannot express how incredible the Tom Madzy 5K & Dog Walk was this morning. Thanks to every single one of you who showed up, laced up, and brought your pups, we officially set a NEW ALL-TIME ATTENDANCE RECORD with 257 registered participants! On top of that, we shattered our previous record for the most money ever raised in our raffle! The day began with Sandy Madzy ringing the bell to start the 5k and mile walk.

An event of this scale doesn't happen without an extraordinary team behind it. Huge shoutouts to our tireless volunteers:
👏 Berea Kiwanis Club
👏 Baldwin Wallace Circle K Club
👏 Berea-Midpark High School Cross Country Team

Our deepest gratitude goes to the sponsors who step up for our kids year after year:
💙 American International Construction
💙 American Legion Post 91
💙 Berea Mayor Cyril Kleem
💙 Brunswick Automart
💙 Berea Clerk of Courts Joe DeMio
💙 Petrasek Properties
💙 MoFit
💙 Luna

And a massive thank you to our incredible food and beverage donors for keeping everyone fueled and smiling:
Café Ah-Roma
JoJo Carloni's
Pita Way
Raising Cane’s
Catlin Family Confections
7 Brew Coffee
Blessed Bagels
Costco

It truly takes a village to ensure no student-athlete is left on the sidelines. This morning, every single person who walked, ran, volunteered, or sponsored was part of the team helping local student-athletes in need. Thank you for making today unforgettable!

See you all next year!
