NOW OPEN: The new greenhouse at Tates Creek Middle School is officially open following a ribbon cutting ceremony for the facility on Thursday morning. This project was the idea of Avery Adams, a three-year alumni at the middle school. More below.

Very glad to see it! Feeding folks shouldn't be inhibited by bureaucracy and paywalls.

We're relieved and very grateful for those who took the diplomatic route and worked alongside officials to take the target off the backs of well-meaning organizations.

IT’S OFFICIAL 🎉
HB 281 was signed into law—and everything just changed for UP!

We can now accept home-cooked meals from our community. No commercial kitchen. No restaurant purchases. Just neighbors showing up for neighbors.

This is something we’ve been waiting on for a long time. And now… we get to continue building something really special.

Sign up today to bring a meal: https://mealtrain.com/zzg6ed

The bread fairy(s) paid us a visit today.
MANY thanks for this generous gift that will surely supplement dozens and dozens of tables and a few hundred meals!!

The bread will be available throughout the weekend across the food sharing pantries in Berea. (Picture below)

Another shinning example of abundance generated by sharing.

FREE fun for all ages and the family!
We are far from the only folks holding free events and doing outreach in the community, especially in the past couple of years.
We love to see it!

Happy Spring Equinox (yesterday) 🌞🍀💐

Women are the healers and menders of our society.
The essence of cohesiveness.
But that reality doesn't exclude women from falling victim to a plethora of hardships and difficult circumstances, as we all well know.
In a region such as the Appalachias, where women are historically even more disenfranchised than marginalized women across the rest of the country, it's vital and imperative that we support them in ways that stabilize their lives

Doing so will only lead to healthier, more stable communities.

This is why ACM is beyond grateful and excited for this collaboration opportunity.

If you've been wondering how to make an impact in today's world, NOSW is a perfect starting place. Your contributions will trickle down in ways that positively affect generations to come.

Thank you New Opportunity School for Women for this invite and collaboration opportunity.

We can wait to see you all at the Meat and Greet event, May 23rd!
Check out their Facebook for more information and learn how you can get involved or contribute in the meantime.

✨ Such a meaningful day connecting with community partners!

New Opportunity School for Women recently had the opportunity to experience the Berea Salt Cave and learn more about the incredible work of the Appalachian Community Meal Project (ACM). ACM provides meals, dining supplies, and volunteers who help prepare, serve, and clean up… ensuring our community has access to warm meals and welcoming spaces.

Moments like this remind us how powerful collaboration can be. When organizations come together, we can support one another, share resources, and expand the impact we make for the people we serve.

We’re also excited to be working out details so our NOSW ladies can experience the salt cave as well. Providing opportunities for rest, wellness, and reflection is just as important as the education and support we offer and partnerships like these help make that possible. 💛

Together, we are building a stronger, more supportive community.

It's never too late to get started cultivating your own food and nutrition.
We admire the work of those who came before us and continue to develop our own programs in the same vein.

Look out for news about this year's ACM Community garden, coming up soon!

Rising fuel prices. Increasing costs of fertilizers. Heat and continuing drought in the western US. Just some of the reasons why food prices will likely continue to rise. If you would like to grow more of your own food, the Berea Urban Farm can help:

The Victory Garden Blitz, April 9-11, provides raised garden beds and soil: https://www.sustainableberea.org/berea-victory-garden-blitz

The Four Seasons Garden and Education Program will increase your knowledge and gardening skills: https://www.sustainableberea.org/four-seasons-garden

The Food is Medicine Program provides nutrient-dense foods and support in growing food: https://www.sustainableberea.org/buf-food-is-medicine-2026

It is time to act.
