Today, we’re holding space for every kind of mother.

The moms raising children with disabilities and complex needs. The moms navigating therapies, appointments, advocacy, exhaustion, and fierce unconditional love. The moms who carry entire worlds on their shoulders and still somehow show up with tenderness.

The moms who are grieving. The women missing their own mothers today. The women longing to become mothers. The foster moms, stepmoms, grandmothers, chosen moms, and the women who mother through love alone.

And yes — the dog moms, too. Especially the ones helping raise future service dogs, comforting anxious hearts, and creating independence one paw at a time.

At W.A.G.S. 4 Kids, we see the quiet strength behind so many of our families. We see the late nights, the resilience, the advocacy, the worry, the humor, and the deep devotion that rarely gets acknowledged enough.

Motherhood does not always look the same. Sometimes it is joyful. Sometimes it is complicated. Sometimes it aches.

Wherever today finds you, we hope you know this:

You matter. Your love matters. And the care you pour into others leaves a lasting imprint far beyond what you may ever fully see.
Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at W.A.G.S. 4 Kids.

Today was a big day for Angel.

He underwent surgery for bilateral elbow dysplasia at Animal Clinic Northview—and handled it with the quiet strength we see in so many of our dogs.

Now, the real work begins: rest, recovery, and a carefully managed rehab journey to get him back to moving comfortably and confidently.

This wasn’t something we planned. His care has brought nearly $7,000 in unexpected medical costs—but Angel didn’t hesitate, and neither will we.

Because of you, he gets this chance.

To everyone who shows up, stands with us, and supports these dogs through moments like this—thank you. We don’t take that trust lightly.

We’ll be sharing updates as he heals. For now, he’s resting—and already reminding us what resilience looks like.

Real talk—April might look a little quiet over here.

But behind the scenes? It’s been anything but.

Isaiah and his service dog Millie have been out making people smile everywhere they go.

Baby boy, Angel has been getting more tests done for his shoulder and will soon go in for surgery. Updates later...

Lonnie? He and Murray are thriving.

Helping mom at the grocery store.
Measuring Murray’s meals.
Finding his calm and his confidence everywhere he goes.

And this moment right here—Lonnie and Murray at the grocery store—might not look like a big deal to most people.

But it is.

Because for a lot of families, something as simple as shopping can feel overwhelming. Unpredictable. Exhausting.

And this time? It wasn’t.

Mom got to stand back.
The boys handled the scanning.
Groceries got bagged.
Everyone stayed calm.

That’s not small. That’s everything.

Behind the scenes this month, kids are building confidence in places that used to feel impossible.

85–90% of the requests we receive are for children with autism—families looking for support with deep pressure therapy, elopement safety, transitions, and more.

Because awareness is one thing.
Living it every day is another.

Families are doing that work long before they ever find us—and long after.

WAGS 4 Kids is just one piece of the support system.
Standing with families.
Showing up where it matters.

So the question is—how can you show up?

International Women’s Day always makes me think about the women who shape our community and the work we do every day — mentors, partners, mothers, advocates, and friends who lead with compassion and strength.

But it also reminds me of the girls who are still being overlooked — especially girls with disabilities who are often diagnosed later, misdiagnosed, or simply not seen.

Equity means making sure they are recognized, supported, and given the same opportunity to thrive.

Today I’m also reflecting on the legacy of Leona Osrin, whose advocacy helped push conversations about visibility and dignity forward for people with disabilities.

Personal power begins with being seen.
