Today today today!!!!! Our first Sea Shanty Sing-along is today! Here's what we'll be shanty-ing today:
John Tanaka
Don't forget your old shipmate
Drop of Nelson's Blood
Heart of Oak
Heave Away Haul Away
Being a Pirate
And we'll slip in South Australia if there's time.

There will be tables - I think picnic type tables and benches, but feel free to bring your own chairs if you wish. Also snacks and water bottles! No pets, yes kids. We're bringing lyric sheets so y'all will have the words in front of you. See you there!

Sea Shanty Sing-along Tomorrow!!! Rain or Shine!
!!!SATURDAY, APRIL 15TH!!!

Batten down the hatches and let the mainsheets fly because here we go! First meet will be 4pm, Saturday, April 15th at HomeGrown HideAways, 500 Floyd Branch Rd, Berea, KY 40403. Kids are welcome, but please DO NOT BRING PETS!!!!!

We'll bring lyric sheets and, per request, will pick shanties which won't necessitate you having sex-ed discussions with your kids on the drive home. 😳 And while we know "bully in the alley" means "pretty darn drunk out behind the pub", if we do that shanty and your kids ask, maybe you can make up some other, less debauched explanation.

About the location: HomeGrown HideAways is a farm, lodging and event facility nestled in a hundred-acre holler in the foothills of Appalachia. To keep the kids occupied, the farm has a small playground, yard games, and a creek (please pack water shoes as some of the rocks can be sharp).

We'll be outside under the farm's 4000 sq.ft. pavilion so if the weather decides to be a touch rainy, it won't affect anything (a torrential downpour will drown us out, but we can accommodate a small gathering on the top floor of our Community Building).

Feel free to bring a picnic or snacks (potluck??). Drinking water is provided by Climax Spring Water, but please bring your own refillable drinking vessel.

Listen up all you scurvy sea dogs, we're less than a week away from our first, come as you are, no talent needed "Afore the Mast Jacks and Jills" sea shanty sing-along! We're busy making copies of lyric sheets, so you don't need to know the songs - we'll bellow the choruses at you until you get it. No, you don't have to know how to read music, no you don't have to be an experienced singer. We aren't, why should you be? Next Saturday, 4pm - come!
