We are saddened by the recent passing of one of our tireless leaders, Jim Spears. Mr. Spears, Troop 36 is deeply grateful for your service and we will dearly miss you.

The Natural State Council is saddened to hear of the passing of retired 12th Circuit Court Judge Jim Spears. Judge Spears was a Silver Beaver recipient, a proud supporter of Scouting, and someone who deeply cared about his community and young people.

It was especially meaningful to see his grandsons earn the rank of Eagle Scout just last month.

Please keep the Spears family in your thoughts and prayers.

Heart of the Eagle Banquets

We’re so proud of our Scouts. You did a fantastic work showcasing Scouting and Troop 36 at the district fundraisers. These young men made such a strong impression at the Cornerstone District event that they were invited to speak at the Razorback District banquet just two weeks later.

🇺🇸 Our troop had the honor of leading the Pledge of Allegiance at the 2026 Bentonville State of the City annual event. This significant occasion unites our community to reflect on the past year, celebrate the collaborations that enable Bentonville to flourish, and anticipate the ongoing growth and opportunities that are shaping our city.

We are truly honored to have received another invitation to participate, but what made this occasion even more remarkable was the acknowledgment of Scouting America in our community as this year’s Volunteer Group of the Year. We take immense pride in our youth and every member who makes a significant contribution!

🚨 Eagle Project Alert

Adan and his crew worked hard last weekend and it shows! Thanks to his leadership and planning, the team successfully laid down dirt and flagstone at the entrance of a nearby dog park to enhance the scenery and combat erosion. It looks fantastic. Great job!

All our Scouts put forth their best effort each day. At our recent Court of Honor, 16 scouts advanced to the next rank. Scouts earned a total of 142 merit badges and were honored with 9 special awards.

We are incredibly proud of this group!

Kudos to several of our scouts who have earned the Reading Merit Badge. The team of ten began their journey last August. They enjoyed various activities, including a fantastic tour of the newly renovated Bentonville Library. A key requirement involves donating books. They successfully gathered 6 boxes of books from our troop and delivered them to the Ozark Literacy Council in Fayetteville.

We are very proud of our scouts who are also members of HOSA - Future Health Professionals. Health Occupations Students of America is a student-led organization designed for high school students enrolled in health science programs who are interested in pursuing careers in the healthcare field. Arkansas had a State Leadership Conference and these students had an incredible showing this year and represented in a truly outstanding way. Congratulations!!

Our boys wrapped up another successful council-wide Merit Badge Summit this week, with more than 30 scouts from our troop, participating in a variety of 25 different badges available. They enjoyed the day both inside and outside the classroom with fellow scouts. Four adult leaders from our troop also participated as Merit Badge Counselors.

Our fall PLC successfully organized a brand new unit for our scouts: Law. Over the course of three weeks, they explored how laws are created, the role of law enforcement and the judiciary in applying these laws, and engaged in a mock trial.

📣 Another Eagle Scout project in the books! We’re so proud of Noa for taking on a much-needed and sensitive topic.

Noa led a one-day awareness event for the community. Several speakers shared valuable information with attendees. Afterwards, scouts filled backpacks with essential items that survivors need in the meantime before returning home.
