Lo**ta, the magnificent being that changed the hearts and minds of everyone who knew of her, is gone 🩵

The day has finally come. You held on for longer than anyone could’ve ever expected and I believe that was out of your sweet kind soul for all of the people who fought for your day of freedom. Sweet girl, you didn’t deserve this. They stole you from your family and home in the ocean, they used and abused you for 53 years for profit—until you had nothing left. They took advantage of your constant forgiveness and grace and now you’re gone 💔 We will never forget your courageous spirit which transcended to all corners of the world. You brought all of us together to teach us an invaluable lesson. Animals are just like us.

You are finally able to swim free for all of eternity. Your spirit will live on forever. You will live on inside of all of us 🩵🕊️

Some of you may have been following the story of Envigo, the Cumberland, Virginia Beagle breeding facility in Virginia who supplies Beagles for medical and other research. There have been many news stories local and national on this facility. AND NOW WE NEED YOUR HELP BY DONATING, FOSTERING, ADOPTING, SHARING!

Over a year ago, this location came on our radar for issues regarding the number of dogs and their treatment. Those of us who work on legislation in Virginia have been following and working on this issue for a long time now.

It will cost us an average of $275 per Beagle to get them ready for adoption, so your support makes their rescue possible. LINK IN BIO TO DONATE!

In early 2022, HT brokered the deal with Envigo to be the group to which 500 "surplus" COVID Beagles would be transferred to and put up for adoption. This was the first step in ensuring dogs not eligible for sale could find loving homes, thanks to Virginia legislators with whom we closely worked to make this happen.

Posted • Oklahoma City 🌆 the vegan food was more than OK!! 🤩 aside from this being one of the best cities we’ve been to- they had tons of vegan options!🥰🌱
We were only in town for the weekend, so many other spots to try! We absolutely recommend and their delicious Vegan Tacos 🌮 I could probably eat them everyday & that chocolate 🍫 chip muffin was :chef’s kiss:💋 had the best cappuccino I’ve had since our trip to Seattle - their blueberry cashew cream cheese oat bagel 🥯 was on point!

Sweet Billie is still looking for her forever home 💗🥹

Billie’s story 🙏
When got to a house in Winslow to save dogs from a hoarding situation, the scene was grim. The woman who had owned the house had been taken into medical care, and no one had been there to care for the dogs. There was no food, no water, no human interaction, no way to get out. There were 20 dogs. Billie was one of the five that Big Paws took in (other rescue groups took the rest). She was first fostered by Joey and Miranda Gibson, who helped her with what they thought was separation anxiety. But once Billie as adopted, it became clear that she was dealing with more than separation anxiety; she was dealing with trauma. She broke her teeth off trying to escape from a kennel. Knowing she needed more help, the adopters brought her back to Big Paws, and Big Paws placed her with Abbie Russell, an experienced foster who had helped dogs with similar issues before. Still in foster care, this beautiful girl is on the road to recovery.
