The Marshall County Veterans Support Group (MCVSG) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit made up of representatives from every veteran organization in Marshall County, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1084 (VFW), American Legion Post 236 & 85, Disabled American Veterans Chapter 118 (DAV), Military Order Purple Heart, Soldier’s Heart Bluegrass and Muddy Waters. It serves as a central hub for coordinating services, advocacy, and community events for local veterans and their families. A primary function of MCVSG is medical transportation, coordinating volunteer-driven, wheelchair-accessible vans to take veterans to VA medical centers in Nashville, Marion, Mayfield, and Paducah. The group also collaborates with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) to assist veterans with filing benefit claims. Beyond transportation, MCVSG helps connect veterans with essential support services, including emergency financial assistance, vehicle repairs, housing support, home modifications such as wheelchair ramps, clothing, and shelter. These services help stabilize veterans during crises, prevent homelessness, improve access to healthcare, and support independent living. Fundraising efforts focus on maintaining and replacing transportation vans to ensure continued medical access. Overall, MCVSG plays a vital role in promoting stability, independence, safety, and dignity for veterans throughout Marshall County.
