Oaxaca Youth Empowerment

Oaxaca Youth Empowerment Oaxaca Youth Empowerment funds educational expenses that provide supplemental academic and other services that enhance the well being of Oaxacan students.

Our program is funded through sponsorhips and other donations. Each child in our program has a sponsor that supports their schooling. Sponsorhips are $250.00 and provide the opportunity for a child to study and work towardsa bright future.

Behind every one of the 18,182 healthy meals served by our partner Centro de Esperanza Infantil in 2025, there is more than food. There is constant work, planning, community, and donors committed to Oaxaca.

But there is also our work. The work of Oaxaca Youth Empowerment. The work of channeling resources, building partnerships, and never letting go of the children.

This year we want more. Because hunger doesn't stop, and neither do we.

🌱 Roots of Love: Planting Community, Harvesting Empowerment

A new OYE initiative is teaching children and their families learn to plant, grow, and cook their own food. We want every household to have access to fresh vegetables, nutrition education, and the joy of growing together.

This project strengthens food security, promotes healthy habits, and builds community bonds from the ground up.

Today we remember Jodi Bauman, our founder.

She wasn't looking for recognition. She was looking for justice for the children of Oaxaca. She saw a boy in the Zócalo and did not look away. That moment changed everything.

Thanks to Jodi, hundreds of young people today have access to education, food, and hope. Her legacy lives on in every smile, every classroom, every future we continue to build.

We have been at this for 25 years. And we are just getting started. Together, we keep going.
