Bikes for Homeless Veterans is a new Eagle Scout Project in Western Kentucky - reserving the right to develop into a Non-Profit Organization upon completion of the Eagle Project. We have a need for Adult Size Bicycles for homeless veterans! We need bikes in good working order … but we will take bikes that need minor repairs (flat tire, needs new chain, etc.). If you have repair parts to donate tha

t too would be appreciated. Having a used bicycle may not seem like a big deal to some people, but for a homeless vet, it can have life-changing consequences. When you put used bicycles into the hands of a homeless veteran, you provide them with an opportunity to do things they often cannot achieve on foot: a chance to get a hot meal across town, go to a job interview, accept a job, access medical care, or attend job training. Suddenly, a used bicycle becomes their ticket to independence and a chance for a better life. We are working with a local organization and have already met with the Veterans who will benefit from this program - we are all very excited! Friends, I am encouraging our local scout troop leaders who have scouts ready to start Eagle Projects to follow in the steps of this project, to help the shelter build up enough bikes for the 48 Veterans they have currently housed. They have about a dozen and a half good bikes being shared at this time. Little did we know, most of the Vets graduating from the program are taking a bike with them as they reestablish themselves, depleting the bikes at the shelter available for the next generation of Veterans in the program. I envision a maintenance program to help sustain and support the shelter. Scouts can definitely work this project within the community and once ready, deliver life changing help to those who have served our Nation 🇺🇸

Hello Friends! We are looking at taking a load of bikes to the shelter this week so if anyone has a decent bike that can help a Veteran contact us. Thank you for supporting the efforts of this project and our Veterans!

It's fall break and we are looking for bikes! We want to have a full load before taking them to the Veterans shelter - we appreciate all adult bike donations!

We've had a busy summer but remain committed to continue collecting good bikes for our Vets in need of transportation!!! If you are in the Western Kentucky region and have an adult bike in good shape, maybe needing small repairs, we would really appreciate the donation!
