Our guest speaker for Tuesday, was Julie Anderson, Community Education Coordinator for Hospice of Southern Illinois. Supplying each of us with erratic earphones, thick gloves, and tunnel vision type sunglasses, Julie gave us a glimpse into those patients suffering Dementia. While wearing the glasses, gloves, and noisy earphones, we found hearing conservations or directions very confusing and frustrating. Julie gave us a better understanding of this type of condition many of the elderly go through.

Gary Williams, General Manager of the Rend Lake Conservancy District , spoke at today's meeting that the 4th of July Fireworks is back. For the first time, the RLCD will host a two day event on July 4th weekend, with an impressive and exciting fireworks display on Friday evening between the Event Center and the Driving Range at the Conservancy location. On both nights there will be live music, a rodeo, and of course food vendors. On Friday evening, July 3rd, the Dave Clark Band will perform, and on Saturday, July 4th will be "Leight." This is the 50th year anniversary of the Rend Lake Golf Course, and of course, the

Jennifer has 22 years experience and will be serving the behavioral health needs of Benton and Franklin County. The Scope of Practice includes: substance abuse disorders, PTSD, depression, anxiety/stress, anger management, interpersonal /relational issues, and thoughts of hurting ones' self.

Jesse Hinds invited the new Director of the Benton/West City Ministerial Alliance, to speak to the club about the local food pantry. Kathy Thomas has been the Director since January 1st of this year, and provides food for over 400 individuals per month. Expenses are between $5000 to $8000 per month, but donations only run about $2000 monthly. Many of those people in need are worried about their benefits being cut off in November, and having
enough food. Kathy emphasized that they are also needing socks, blankets, etc.

Hilary Remm, invited today's speaker, Darla Harms, Associate Director of Southern Illinois Service Extension for the Salvation Army out of Marion.

The Salvation Army was started in 1865 by Methodist parsons William and Catherine Booth, in London as a Christian Mission. The
Salvation Army of Southern Illinois covers 23 counties, which helps individuals with rent and utility assistance, and 2 food pantries in
Williamson and Marion Counties. Also, the Salvation Army has started a leadership initiative as an opportunity to train women leaders.
