Match day brings crowds, traffic and excitement. Give yourself extra time and extra attention near the tracks. Never try to beat a train to a crossing. Trains cannot stop quickly and a freight train can take more than 15 soccer fields to stop fully. Make safe choices. See Tracks? Think Train!®

Every crossing deserves your full attention.

Trains can't stop quickly. A freight train can take more than a mile to stop, even in an emergency.

When you reach a crossing:

Always expect a train.
Never go around gates.
Cross only when the signs and signals are clear.

Eight signs and signals are there to help you make safe choices at every crossing. Crossbucks. Flashing red lights. Lowering gates. Pavement markings. Advance warning signs. Low ground clearance signs. Multiple track warnings. The Blue and White Emergency Notification System sign. Each one tells you something important. Knowing what they mean and how to respond is one of the most important things you can do near tracks and trains. Save this guide so it's there when you need it.
