For 27 years, Clint Smith has been a steady, joyful, and irreplaceable part of the Marshall County Exceptional Center family. He has brightened the lives of every client he has served and every employee fortunate enough to work beside him. His kindness, humor, and unwavering dedication have shaped the heart of our agency for nearly three decades.
Yesterday, what began as a routine colonoscopy quickly turned into something far more serious. Clint was admitted to the hospital after concerning findings, and doctors discovered that his colon was obstructed and formed a fistula connecting to his bladder, causing significant damage. A mass has been confirmed in his colon, and additional suspicious areas—including a spot on his liver—are being evaluated. Due to the complexity of his condition, he has been transferred to Nashville for specialized surgery and advanced treatment. Surgery is planned for Monday, and the family is awaiting further diagnostic results, including CEA bloodwork, to determine the stage of cancer.
As you can imagine, the emotional and financial toll is already immense and growing by the day.
We are asking our MCEC community—our friends, families, supporters, and all who love Clint—to join us in lifting him up. Please keep Clint, his family, and his medical team in your deepest prayers. Pray for strength, healing, clarity, and comfort in the days ahead.
If you are able, we also ask that you consider donating to the family’s GoFundMe. Medical expenses are accumulating rapidly as his care becomes more complex, and any contribution—no matter the size—will make a meaningful difference during this incredibly difficult time.
Clint has spent 27 years pouring love, patience, and joy into the lives of others. Today, he needs that same love poured back into him.
Thank you for standing with him, supporting his family, and surrounding them with the compassion that defines our MCEC community.
