After much prayer and discussion, Susan and I have decided, with God's timing we must officially bring our non profit food ministry www.deliveringhopeministries.com to its end. It's been our blessing and privilege to serve the fine people of Benton and the surrounding area for the last 3 years.
Over that span of time we were blessed to serve over 2700 home cooked meals, 387 full portioned Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and deliver 113 Christmas presents to children who would have received little to nothing.
The meals meant very little to us as they were more of a way to tell the recipients about the goodness of God. We were blessed that God used Susan and I in a way that brought souls and glory to Him. After all it was His business, He just gave us the keys to run it.
It has truly been a labor of love for us. We've laughed with people, cried with them, hugged and loved on them when they were going through a time when they thought no one cared for them. Susan and I were blessed more than the people we delivered to.
Even had a few doors slammed in our faces once we dropped the dinners off to them. Didn't detour us at all. Even if we didn't get a chance to speak directly to them, each bag had a gospel tract stapled to it...."Steps to Peace with God"
The main reason behind our closure to be honest is finances. We struggled to get corporate sponsors. It cost Susan and I roughly 700.00 a month to keep it running and while the fine people who donated over the years to us through one time or small monthly donations we couldn't rely just on our neighbors to keep repeatedly giving over and over and the finances were just to much to keep us going. That's basically the bottom line....it just took more out of our savings than we could afford.....and that's the ugly truth. But y'all know we've always been up front with everyone. It took all we had and more.
We don't know what God has in store next for us because He has something. We look forward to the next adventure He has planned for us. Having to make this post breaks both of our hearts. We absolutely love our town and the people we were blessed to touch and who touched us during the last 3 years. PLEASE keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we navigate our way through these feelings and emotions.
And as I always say, " WE ARE PROUD BENTONITES AND LOVE EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU"!
Sincerely - Steve and Susan Stewart
