Kentucky Junior Duck Stamp

Kentucky Junior Duck Stamp An exciting curriculum based art and writing contest for students K-12, deadline March 15th. Prizes are made available through gracious sponsors.

A great way to get kids involved in the outdoors is through the Junior Duck Stamp Art and Writing Contest! The Junior Duck Stamp contest teaches students about wetlands, migration, conservation, waterfowl, and land stewardship. This program has been used in not just art and science classes, but writing, history, gifted, and special needs classes as well. The contest is a great learning experience

for all levels of talent! Recognition is given to winners in many forms including cash, ribbons, certificates, etc. If you know someone in grades K-12 who would be interested, please give them the opportunity to show their talent. If you would like more information, or would like to schedule a time for staff to speak with your students about the Junior Duck Stamp Contest, contact us!

Happy Dinosaur Day to all who celebrate—especially the feathered dinosaurs outside your window 🦕🦆

It’s wild to think that birds are direct descendants of ancient dinosaurs. In fact, many dinosaurs likely had feathers long before modern birds ever took flight.

That means every goose, teal, Mallard, and swan carries a little piece of prehistory into the present day.

We had an unfortunate event occur this year. A group sent in their art before the deadline, but it got lost in the mail and arrived over a month later. It was after the official judging process, so the Friends of Clarks River National Wildlife Refuge held a special judging for them.

Flags waving, summer beginning, voices gathering around picnic tables.☀️ But at the heart of Memorial Day is remembrance.

Today we honor the service members who gave their lives in defense of others and reflect on the cost of the freedoms we often experience in ordinary moments. May their sacrifice never be forgotten.
