Yesterday and today our friends Aaron and Jeff from EGLE came to do a fish and macroinvertebrate survey at 5 locations on Ox Creek. We found numerous species of fish and creepy crawlers throughout the creek! This survey will be replicated in 5 years and will help measure the impact of the restoration efforts. Thanks to our volunteers for lending a hand!

Today volunteers are planting native plants at Hall Park. Thank you to the Berrien County Conservation District for securing the grant to plant trees and native plants at Hall Park. These trees and plants will provide habitat for birds, butterflies and other wildlife. They will also soak up rainwater to help keep Ox Creek healthy and clean! Hall Park is looking beautiful!! There is more to come with a stream restoration project this summer and a new parking area and rain garden later this year! Its so exciting to see the progress with the Ox Creek Movement!

Yesterday volunteers planted 🌳 at Union Park. Did you know that Union Park drains to Ox Creek? Well it does! These trees will provide wonderful shade around the park's walking paths and also capture rain water. Trees soak up water which helps keep Ox Creek clean and healthy! Thank you to the volunteers that helped out! The trees look beautiful!!!

🌱 Help Us Plant the Future! 🌱

Join the Berrien County Conservation District
for our upcoming Hall Park Restoration Native Planting event on Friday, May 22 from 10 AM – 2 PM at Hall Park! Together, we’ll be restoring important wetland habitat by planting native species that support local wildlife, improve water quality, and strengthen our ecosystem for generations to come.

This is a hands-on volunteer opportunity, so come ready to get a little muddy while making a real difference in our community! Please bring:
🧤 Gloves
🥾 Boots
🌿 A spade shovel if you have one

Due to the marshy terrain, this event is not recommended for children under 10.

Every plant put in the ground helps restore and protect Berrien County’s natural resources. We hope to see you there! 💚

Sled building last night was spectacular! We had a great turnout and completed 8 sleds for the sled library at Hall Park. Thanks to Present Pillars for hosting the workshop, the facility was perfect for this event. Stay tuned for more opportunities to help activate the Ox Creek corridor!
