Meet another one of our board members!
Mary Anne Dalton, CSJ, Ph.D., has dedicated her life to education and service, leaving a lasting impact on countless students and teachers alike. Born and raised in Ecorse, Michigan, a small town near Detroit, she embarked on her journey in education with a deep passion for learning and teaching.
In 1960, Mary Anne answered a higher calling and joined the convent to become a Sister of St. Joseph in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Throughout her years as a Sister, she has remained in good standing and continued to serve her community with unwavering dedication.
Mary Anne's teaching career spans over five decades, beginning with 12 years teaching Speech and Drama, English, and Religion in Michigan. In 1975, she became a Workshop Way consultant, sharing her expertise with teachers from PreK to Grade 12 for an impressive 45 years.
A lover of travel, Mary Anne has explored destinations such as Peru, Ireland, and San Diego, often utilizing frequent flyer mileage for her adventures. Her teaching career also took her to New Orleans, where she spent 14 years at Xavier University of Louisiana, and to Marygrove College in Detroit for 8 years before her retirement, a period she cherished immensely.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Mary Anne has a vibrant personality and diverse interests. She is fond of earthtones, reflecting her appreciation for nature's beauty. A loyal supporter of the Detroit Lions and Michigan State University, she loves to cheer for her teams!
In her earlier years, Mary Anne showcased her musical talents as a part-time accompanist at Patti OβDae Theatrical studio, enriching the lives of young performers. Additionally, she maintained a rigorous swimming routine, swimming 26 lengths at the BGSU student center in Bowling Green, Ohio.
Mary Anne Dalton's life is a testament to the transformative power of education and service. Her legacy continues to inspire those she has taught and worked alongside, leaving an indelible mark on the field of education and beyond.
