It took nearly a year for us to choose a name for the rescue. We wanted a name that would help to illustrate what a tidal wave of homeless animals exist in our rural, southern community. Hence, the name, Southern Tide. People involved in animal rescue have seen the worst of atrocities waged against the innocent animals that have no voice. Often times, our days are filled with graphic images of ani
mal abuse. Our phones are always ringing, emails always buzzing, pages beeping away with people begging us to take just one more. At the end of the day, we're left exhausted, and feeling guilty because we couldn't do more. This often results in rescue people becoming angry, bitter and judgmental of the people needing our help....which may be YOU. I have sat with crying families bringing their dog to me because they had no other alternative, and thought, by bringing their dog to me, they were doing the best thing for their beloved family companion. These are people whose only other alternative was a death sentence at the local shelter. I believe that most people are doing the best they can with whatever resources they have available to them. Resources such as education, money, and a suitable living environment, are but a few. Here is my absolute commitment to you...I WILL NOT JUDGE YOU. I WILL NOT MAKE YOU FEEL BAD FOR SURRENDERING YOUR PET. I WILL NOT MAKE YOU FEEL GUILTY FOR NOT HAVING THE PROPER VETTING. I promise you, I will do all for your pet that I tell you I will do, and until he or she gets their forever home with an adopter, he or she will have a forever home with me.
