Four years. Countless miles. First pitch video from 2023
Dozens of applications. One mission that never changed. β€οΈ
Four years ago, this journey began because I couldn't find the kind of safe, welcoming space I needed as a woman veteran.
I knew I couldn't be the only one.
What started as That Day Company evolved into That Day Collective and eventually became our official 501(c)(3) nonprofit, That Day Community Corner.
Along the way, we've traveled across the region and the country, attended countless networking events, explored retail and coffee concepts, submitted more than 50 grant applications, and participated in approximately 10 pitches and competitions.
We've heard βnoβ plenty of times. We've changed directions. We've learned. But we never stopped showing up.
And here's what those four years taught me:
People show up when they feel safe.
They share their time, talents, resources, experiences, and generosity. The problem isn't always a lack of organizations or people willing to help. Sometimes, it's that we've made connecting the two unnecessarily complicated.
When someone is overwhelmed or in crisis, they shouldn't have to navigate endless websites, confusing directions, or a maze of referrals just to find support.
That's the gap we're working to bridge.
We're bringing together the veteran and first responder communities, local businesses, volunteers, and organizations to make giving and receiving support simpler and more accessible.
And now, we've been selected as one of the TOP SIX finalists for Action Tank Philadelphia's pitch competition this Saturday! π
We'll be pitching The Giving Station, our first major initiative launching January 2027.
We're starting small, starting local, and building something our community can actually use. Maybe one day this model will reach communities across the country. But first, we're focused on making it work right here at home.
This isn't our first pitch. It won't be our last. But this one represents four years of learning what our community truly needs.
We didn't spend four years building another organization just to add another name to a resource list. We spent four years learning how to connect the dots.
Because everyone deserves to feel welcome, respected, and supported.
