I've taken some educational classes about kidney transplant and found that contrary to a lot of peoples belief that if they hold on to one of their kidneys, they may need it in their old age. The truth is that if one of your kidneys die, they both die simultaneously. So holding on to your two kidneys won't increase your longevity. Regardless of what you do, if one of your kidneys fail in your future, they both will fail and you also will need someone to help you. It's not easy for me to ask for help, but I will be eternally grateful if I could have more years to love my children and grandchildren and I'll be forever indebted to you.
