AFTER PROM PARENTS MEETING MINUTES
After Prom Parents meeting was held on Wednesday, February 25th, 2026 at the Rainbow Fountain Park Community Room.
Candie Merklin called the meeting to order at 5:15 P.M.
Those present were Candie Merklin, Angie Stamm, Jennifer Garcia, Ashley Bailey, Marily Chamberlain, Leila Bernard, Emma Baldeh, Terri Yrkoski, Molly Horner, Kylie Freed, Amy Shillington, Emilee Swigert and Alisha Shapley.
Discussed the following-
We discussed filling the night with inflatables (laser tag, hamster balls, obstacle course), games (blackjack, bucket golf, 9-square). Alicia Aldridge is checking availability of the inflatables at Roo Jumps out of Colorado. Leila Bernard is going to check with Scott Stahlecker about blackjack tables.
We can borrow Mike and Alicia’s nine-square, after prom also has a Big Jenga set, and several card games.
Leila Bernard and Emma Baldeh (class representatives) said that the seniors are going to go around and ask for donations.
Candie Merklin got conformation that the request for the use of the grade school gym for after prom was accepted. She will also send out the letters for donations to Hester Foundation, KWIK Stop and Pepsi.
Discussion was held on doing Breakfast food this year instead of the sandwiches that have been done for years. Everyone liked the idea to change it up. Food ideas were breakfast burritos, pancakes, sausage, fruit, yogurt, Capri Suns. A food committee was formed: Emilee Swigert, Josh Bailey and Alisha Shapley. We might be able to get the Culinary Arts classes at the school to help prepare food.
Liela Bernard and Emma Baldeh asked if there could be t-shirts again this year. They are going to work on a design and Ashley Bailey is going to check with Susie in Wauneta about getting some made. Talked about getting black shirts with gold lettering. Ashley will be in contact with Liela and Emma on what she finds out from Susie.
Amy Shillington brought up having Thank You cards for all guessing jars and gifts that the kids win. They kid that wins the prize will have to sign the card before they leave and After Prom Committee will mail them out to the donors.
The Dance runs from 8:30 to 11:30 pm on Saturday, April 25th, Adrienne Mathews, Crissy Latta and Molly Horner will write the times on hands at the high school when the dance is over. The kids have 30 minutes to check in at the grade school. After Prom party will run from Midnight till 2:30/3 A.M. Sunday, April 26th.
Alicia Aldridge has agreed to do the guessing jars again this year.
Kylie Freed will get in contact with Craig Kerchal about donating 6 large bags of ice, Alisha Shapley said we can use the coolers like we did last year.
Molly Horner will set up a group chat with senior parents to remind them about meetings and Ashley Bailey will do one for junior parents.
Kids will start to be released at 2:30 A.M. MT but can stay until 3 A.M. if they’d like to. If they decide to leave earlier than 2:30 A.M. they are asked to be courteous and sign out with an adult and they forfeit all prizes they may win including the guessing jars.
Volunteers to work the After Prom Party are Candie Merklin, Molly Horner, Jennifer Garcia, Marily Chamberlain, Angie Stamm and possibly Terri Yrkoski.
At the next meeting we need to discuss the following:
· Absolutely NO outside drinks or food will be allowed into the school for after prom party
· Set up at the elementary on Friday/Saturday
· Clean up on Sunday
REMINDER-IF YOU DO NOT GO TO PROM, YOU CAN NOT GO TO AFTER PROM PARTY!!!!!!
Next meeting will be Wednesday, March 18th at 5:15 MT at Rainbow Fountain Park Community Room.
